Gem City Mastering pricing is fee-based rather than time-based. Additionally, our pricing is project-based. A project can be defined as any collection of songs sent to me at the same time. Five singles sent at the same time are priced as a 5-track project, even if they will be released individually. Likewise, if you send the first 4 tracks of an album one day, and the last 5 tracks three weeks later, they will be priced as one 4-track and one 5-track project, respectively. This is in order to account for the setup time involved.
Every mastering engineer has a musical personality, as does every artist. In order to ensure that our musical personalities match, for new clients, I will master one track completely free, no strings attached. In the unlikely case that we just aren't a match for each other; no harm, no foul.
